ARIANESPACE FLIGHT VS07 - Sentinel -1A
THE LAUNCH READINESS REVIEW (RAL) took place in Kourou on Wednesday April 2, 2014 and authorized count-down operations for the Soyuz ST-A – Sentinel-1A launch.

Arianespace’s seventh Soyuz launch from the Guiana Space Center will orbit Sentinel-1A, the first satellite in Europe's Earth observation program, Copernicus. The European Space Agency (ESA) chose Thales Alenia Space to design, develop and build the satellite, as well as perform related tests.

With the Soyuz, Ariane 5 and Vega launchers at the Guiana Space Center (CSG), Arianespace is the only launch services provider in the world capable of launching all types of payloads into all orbits, from the smallest to the largest geostationary satellites, from satellite clusters for constellations to cargo missions for the International Space Station (ISS).

Arianespace sets the launch services standard for all operators, whether commercial or governmental, and guarantees access to space for scientific missions.

The launch will be from the Soyuz Launch Site (ELS) at the Guiana Space Center, French Guiana.
Liftoff is scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 2014 at exactly:

06:02:26 pm local time in French Guiana

Arianespace boosts Sentinel-1A Earth observation satellite into orbit
On Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 6:02 pm local time in French Guiana, Arianespace successfully carried out the seventh Soyuz mission from the Guiana Space Center (CSG), orbiting the Sentinel-1A satellite for the European Commission within the scope of a contract with the European Space Agency (ESA).

Launched as part of the European Commission's Copernicus program, the Sentinel-1A satellite will play a decisive role in meeting Europe's environmental monitoring and security requirements. In particular, it will contribute to observation of the terrestrial and maritime environments, while supporting crisis management in case of natural disasters.

The Copernicus program, formerly known as GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security), covers a vast spectrum of missions, to better control and protect our environment, enhance our understanding of the underlying phenomena in climate change, and improve security for European citizens.
