Ich war heute morgen beim DLR in Köln auf der Startveranstaltung. Ziemliche Enttäuschung, als gegen 8.15 Uhr der Startabbruch bekannt gegeben wurde. Zufällig war gerade auf der Bühne eine sehr interessante junge Dame: Anja Frank vom DLR-Triebwerkstestzentrum in Lampoldshausen. Die hatte dann gleich die gesammelten Procedures des Abbruchs drauf und hat das sehr anschaulich erläutert.
Jetzt werde ich mir morgen früh nochmal den Schlaf aus den Augen reiben und nochmal ins DLR düsen. Allein schon, weil die Veranstaltung wesentlich kleiner ist und diesmal direkt im Philae-Kontrollzentrum stattfindet.
Es ist nie zu spät für eine glückliche Kindheit...

Gute Idee! Mal sehen ob Weckzeit 8:15 reicht... Wie sieht es dann eigentlich mit den Ergebnissen aus? Wie kommen die zur Erde? 576000000km sind ja doch ein bisschen Strecke...  Auch mit Lichtgeschwindigkeit würde das doch ne Zeit dauern, oder? 8)

Rosetta-Start erneut verschoben
Der für heute vorgesehen Start der Ariane 5 mit der Kometensonde Rosetta musste aus technischen Gründen verschoben werden. Untersuchungen werden bereits durchgeführt. Die Rosetta-Sonde ist in sicherem Zustand, es sind keine Untersuchungen notwendig. Ein neuer Start soll voraussichtlich Anfang nächster Woche stattfinden.

(Arianespace press release) During final inspection of the launcher V158, a minor anomaly was observed on the thermal protection of the main cryogenic stage (EPC). Corrective action is required. The launch vehicle therefore has to be rolled back to the final assembly building (BAF) for the necessary work to be carried out followed, by a general inspection of the stage. The thermal protection of the EPC guarantees thermal insulation of the cryogenic propellants against the external environment. The Rosetta spacecraft remains in safety conditions under the fairing. These operations will lead to a resumption of the countdown at the beginning of next week. Anmerkung: Den Froggies ist ein Teil der Thermalisolierung der Hauptstufe abgefallen. Im Stand! Das schaffen selbst die Amis erst im Flug...  Viele Grüße Michael

*eieiei* ... das Ding killt noch komplett meinen Ferienschlaf (jaja, bin schon weg...  ) Wie ist des eigentlich mitm Betanken ? Vor wieviel Tagen haben die jetzt schon die Booster mit AP "betankt"? War das Vulcain- Triebwerk (stimmt schon !? - also das Mittlere) eigtl. schon mal betankt - also gestern o. macht man das erst kurz vorm Start ? Möcht´ ich seeehr gern mal live sehn... Na, ist das nicht wunderbar? Die hatten ja auch nur ein Jahr zusätzlich Zeit, die Kiste durchzuchecken. Bin mal gespannt, was bis 2014 noch so alles abfällt  Jaja, ich weiß: die Booster, die EPC, die EPS, die Nutzlastverkleidung...

Flight 158 - February 27
Launch postponed
The liftoff of Arianespace Flight 158 will be delayed by a few days to allow for a minor repair to the external thermal protection on Ariane 5’s core cryogenic stage.
A visual inspection of the cryogenic core stage detected that a 10 X 15-cm. piece of the protection was missing, giving reason for the countdown to be stopped. The inspection was made prior to the start of the stage’s fueling.
The thermal protection insulates the stage’s cold cryogenic propellants against the warmer external environment.
To replace the missing piece of insulation, Ariane 5 will be moved on its mobile launch table back to the Spaceport’s Final Assembly Building, where a new block of thermal protection will be installed. Once the new piece is in place, the adhesive requires approximately 36 hours for its drying/curing process.
Both the launcher and its Rosetta comet-intercept payload remain in a “safe” mode.
Resumption of the Flight 158 countdown is planned at the beginning of next week.
